How In-Home Care and Home Health Care Differ?

Although everybody likes to stay on their own, yet there are certain situations when you need to raise hands to get the desired help. People majorly of superior age, with disabilities and terminal illness are amongst the ones that require assistance throughout the day for a convenient living. Home care is what ideal and feasible for them.

The requirement for home care has created the demand of a newer service industry to fulfill these requirements. There are basically two types of care services available namely ‘in-home care’ and ‘home health care’. They were earlier being confused with each other, but certainly have a distinct difference. Here’s how these two differ…

The Level of Care Facilitated…

The in-home care refers to a service that provides assistance in non-medical responsibilities; conversely home health care involves professional medical support. The cost of the services is another differing factor that may define the level of care provided to the individual.

In-Home Care Service…

Since the in-home care service provides non-medical assistance, the individual is helped with their daily life activities. This may include performing chores such as meal preparation, washing, and cleaning, medical reminders and of course companionship. Other tasks could be light housekeeping, shopping, take the person for the medical appointments and other activities in the community.

Home Health Care Service…

Home health care is more of a comprehensive service which involves a professionally licensed personal to facilitate the health care for the person’s instrumental living. The activities include providing assistance in bathing, dressing, transferring, eating and walking etc. Majority of the licensed personals are usually nurses, therapists, social workers, aids, and volunteers. They also specialize in offering medical or psychological assessments, pain management, and wound care.

By far, there are now a number of dedicated firms available that are offering helping hands for home care. Helping hand implies to the professional caretakers who are competently trained to provide home care.
